Since we've had a "reboot", although not a migration, it got me thinking about the history involved in this board.
This board traces its history to the comments board on the website The Daily Reckoning, by Bill Bonner and a group of associates. They were a loosely-affiliated crew who ran things like The Oxford Club. Bonner had acquired a mansion in a decayed section of Baltimore, which served as the organization's headquarters. We had quite an active membership going until they decided to shut down the site's message board. Maybe because of the work involved, maybe because so many of us regularly skewered the financial products the organization offered. (In retrospect, maybe we should have asked for a closed sub-board. It's not nice to mock one's hosts.)
Questions:
1. Does anyone remember when the Daily Reckoning board got started, and when it was shut down (the year is plenty accuracy enough).
2. Can anyone recite the "ancestry" of this board? That is, what iterations it went through to get here? How many generations removed from Bonner's board are we?
I am worried that we've lost most of our membership in the latest transitions. There was also a "fork" board not that long ago, run by Klepht. It seemed to have deteriorated into spam and ugly arguments a while ago and I confess I stopped visiting and lost track. Is it still running? Are there any other descendant boards from the Daily Reckoning still operating, that I'm not aware of?

Guns don't kill people, the government does.
