The thing that most frightens me is the possibility that the deep awful corruption, manipulation of society by hyper wealthy powerful forces who do not have the vast majority of people's needs as a controlling interest, destruction of our educational systems, absurd debt growth and many other factors will result in the collapse of our society's economic, law and order, political and other systems to the extent that my children, grand children and future generations of all of us us will live in a world devoid of the relative peace, order, freedom and opportunities we have enjoyed. That outcome is so unnecessary but we seem to be headed toward it as straight as an indian can shoot an arrow.

To paraphrase W. B. Yeats I am afraid the center won't hold, and when it falls all will collapse.
I dream of an America where a chicken can cross the road without having it's motives questioned.

so I'm gonna stop making predictions......

ONE day later and my restaurant was victim of an armed robbery

Thank God not the kind where anyone got hurt but does send a chill down the whole operation

Quote:    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
    The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity

Confiscation of wealth via "bail-ins" in which all deposited funds are transferred from one bank to another as a settlement of derivatives.

Why do I carry ? Ask Dave !

My custom 1911 fatboy loaded with Liberty Civil Defense ammo will do the job !

However when you carry like I do , you better know when "NOT"to shoot ...

An armed robbery is a sticky situation and many times you let the bad guy walk unless you think he is about to start shooting.

Dammit Dave!

You're quoting Yeats!

The full poem is powerful stuff:

THE SECOND COMING
    Turning and turning in the widening gyre
    The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
    The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity.

    Surely some revelation is at hand;
    Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
    The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
    When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
    Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
    A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
    A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
    Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
    Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

    The darkness drops again but now I know
    That twenty centuries of stony sleep
    Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
    And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
    Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

If that doesn't run a chill up your spine you've had a lobotomy!

WHAT HAPPENED MAN?

I had just left two hours earlier, long time manager/cashier was there.

it was very busy! - like  a dozen employees and half full with 70+ customers!
very gutsy - especially as a number of my customers carry, some open and our restaurant's layout has a one way mirror office next to register etc.

From Cashier & Cameras:
just before midnite a girl that was sitting in driking only water (said waiting for someone) with view of the place for 45 minutes, got up walked to register, when the other employees stepped in backc, repeatedly adjusting her waistband, gave cashier a note warning of gun in waistband asking for "all the money" - Cashier laughed at her and pointed up to security camera- response was to highlite the gun - half pull it up and threaten- so she got the $85 or so (we normally pull large bills to office safe) - turned and ran out the door.
she had tons of extra clothes on - most likely very young, pretty, hispanic, hair pushed up in cap covering most of her face - cops say a trio with one to two girls have been doing this, herion going around recently he said.

AMAZINGLY we called and warned the next nearest restaurant - Taco Bell; YET the exact same thing happened to them two days later!! but she had to actually show the gun. and their better more numerous cameras caught the three of them in getaway car too.  Rumor is they were picked up later, butnot confirmed.

NOW nothing is ever like we can envision, I carry, but train to shoot a bad guy that LOOKS like a bad guy.
if I was next to the register where I normally am, and seen this, not sure what point I could have done what.
I mean, there were always innocents behind her, she didn't point it, she didn't act like a druggy and looked like a sweet little kid! I mean, if I stepped out AND she pulled it out / pointed at me ?-- I could've shot or stepped back in office???
it just makes me SICK to think of the possibilities, and thankful all didn't go any worse.

I have improved security and have much more work to do.
I should start a thread on that to get more advice
